Why stop with Boltage? I recommend Voltage!

Citizen Dave (formerly Madison's Mayor Dave) thinks children could be helped with their "incredible... obesity" if the government would fit them with a product called Boltage:
Boltage is... a chip that can go in a kid's backpack or helmet. When the child crosses in front of a reader at school it sends a message to mom or dad letting them know that their kid has arrived safely. But the system also works as an exercise incentive by keeping track of how much kids walk and bike, letting them know exactly how much they've helped the planet by reducing CO2, and giving them small rewards and recognitions along the way.
... We could get it started here at a school in Madison for as little as about $5,000.
Why not new Boltage with Voltage? An electric shock when the little plumpsters slow down or stop for too long. That'd give them some incentive to run around.

ADDED: You know, Boltage is not a joke. It's a real product. This is not satire:
So what's with the flying bunny?

In order to win the hearts and minds of kids, we need to connect with them. We developed "Boltage" brand to make the program cool for kids, and compete with the sophisticated marketing and media that fill our kids lives these days.

Boltage is the leader of the League of Incredible Thunder Bunnies. Boltage was born when a strange purple lightning bolt struck the north pole at midnight during a full eclipse of the moon. New Thunder Bunnies are born every time a lightning bolt strikes at exactly midnight. No one knows how many Thunder Bunnies exist - some say there are thousands - but they are only visible to kids.

Their mission is to save th [...]

"Till Death Do Us Pay" - More on the Need for Alimony Reform

Finally, a little slice of la vida real in our Massachusetts family court system: Till Death Do Us Pay - Boston Magazine. I'm encouraged to see such critical words from a local media source, in this case Boston Magazine. You definitely will not get such truth from the Boston Globe. And what a shame that is, as the Boston Globe is still the best newspaper we have in this state. Yet, by its Source - Massachusetts Divorce & Family Law Blog

"Real Madrid are not in crisis"

Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno has rubbished the idea that the club is in crisis after a string of poor results.
The club's director of institutional relations believes their 6-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano will prove enough to dispel the dark clouds hovering at the Santiago Bernebeu.
"I have spent almost 30 years related to the Madrid and the word crisis always occurs when two parties do not win, so we must be calm," said Butragueno to AS after the win.
"We must always have the peace of mind that we have a great squad and a great coach, and play like we have a final every three days. The result today is a psychic boost for people to calm down."
But [...]

So Much For The U.S. Military Going Green

Solyndra Fall-Out Could Tank Solar For Military Bases -- CNET

SolarCity said today that the Department of Energy has not been able to finalize a loan guarantee for a project to install rooftop solar panels on military bases, blaming the political furor caused by bankrupt solar company Solyndra.

Earlier this month, the Department of Energy announced a $344 million conditional loan guarantee agreement with SolarCity to install solar photovoltaic panels at Department of Defense bases in 33 states. The distributed solar project, called SolarStrong, would have doubled the number of residential solar installations in the U.S. and would have been the largest rooftop solar project.

UDATE: Navajo President fails the earth and betrays the people

By Brenda Norrell
Censored News

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. -- Navajo President Ben Shelly line item vetoed funding for the Navajo Green Economy Office on Thursday, after demanding protection for the earth at the United Nations this week.
Navajos say they have been betrayed by the Navajo president and called his presence at the United Nations Human Rights Council grandstanding for political gain.
President Shelly, after urging protection and respect for the earth and Navajo people at the United Nations in Geneva, signed into law the Navajo budget, which included a line item veto of all funding for the Navajo Green Economy Office.
Anna Rondon, Navajo, said, "It is a sad day for Navajo communities, youth and elders. Navajo Nation President Ben Shelly line item vetoed Navajo Green Economy Office. Though I respect his opinion as President, this act is keeping the coal-based industries in control of our collective future.
"It is time to begin balancing our development with earth friendly technologies. It needs true Nav [...]
